Why DC Climate Week?
DC is a labyrinth of tight-knit, action-driven communities. It has more vast, green spaces and parkland than any other city. And it’s home to a global network of policymakers, sustainability experts, nonprofits, and civic-minded activists. Here, diverse neighborhoods, creative industries, national institutions, and cultural landmarks intersect, making DC a one-of-a-kind hub for climate action.
Powered by community, not competition
DCCW is a collective effort — by and for the people of the DMV — to make climate action accessible and joyful. Whether you’re a student, policymaker, entrepreneur, advocate, artist, or neighbor, your voice belongs here.
Global reach, local roots
As a home to embassies, nonprofits, and sustainability leaders from around the world, DC connects global perspectives with local leadership.
Where hope meets action
At DCCW, we face the realities of the climate crisis with honesty and resolve — and channel that energy into practical, hopeful solutions. Every idea, conversation, and collaboration strengthens our shared capacity for action.
Leading by example
DC is proving what’s possible. We’re the first LEED-certified city in the world, home to one of the nation’s biggest urban tree canopies, and a hub where policy, innovation, advocacy, arts, and culture intersect.
What guides us
Collaboration
Progress happens when we work together. DCCW unites people across communities and perspectives.
Hope
Hope is a catalyst for action. DCCW is designed to leave people feeling connected, energized, and optimistic about the future.
Empowerment
Everyone has a role to play in the climate movement. We help people see that their actions and voices matter — and that they’re part of something bigger.
Sustainability
Every aspect of DCCW is rooted in the pursuit of a sustainable, climate-resilient future for all.
Joy
Let's celebrate our progress, our community, and our beautiful planet.
DCCW is a proud partner of the
Climate Week Network
We envision a world where climate solutions are woven into every community — and where every city has its own climate week.
